We have now completed the installation of the wood strapping and we’ve installed Palmex Domingo sheets on two sides. Each side is over 125 square meters, or the equivalent of a fairly large rancho.

We are pleased to announce that we have begun our largest project to date in Panama. We are covering the three large octagonal structures that will make up the beach/pool restaurant and VIP room at the new Westin Hotel Playa Bonita that Empresas Bern is building. This gigantic restaurant alone encompasses close to 2000 m2 of roof.

The client is a distributor and re-seller of construction materials who works directly with designers, architects and developers of hotels, condos and resorts. They are so happy with our product, they want to represent Palmex to their customers!

This is next to the beach house we did two weeks ago. It is a very large (14m diameter) rancho right on the beach near the Decameron. 250 palm trees were saved by using Palmex.

This client wanted to start with a smaller thatch roof as a test before moving on to his bigger roofs. We think the test was successful.

We just completed the roof over the deck of this beach house in Farallon. 160 palm trees saved.
We are now also doing the very large rancho on the beach in front of this house. Watch this space for pictures next week.

This week I met a fellow countryman who builds homes here in the Coronado area and when I told him that I owned Palmex Panama S.A., the synthetic thatch roofing company, the first words out of his mouth were: “How much per square meter?” Oh boy, I thought to myself, here we go again; the same one-way discussion has happened to me at least three or four times over the last two years…
I tell them the range of prices per square meter, which depends on the exact variant of Palmex used and the type of installation, and they immediately launch ...
