We recently completed changing the roof at one of Panama’s landmark restaurants, the Mi Ranchito on the Amador Causeway. The old natural palm roof was long overdue and leaks had already begun to damage the structure. Because of this we ended up having to replace about 20% of the mangle wood structure. We also treated the structure against termites and re-varnished the whole thing.

Installing the new Palmex roof was quite a challenge because the owner of Mi Ranchito didn’t want to close the restaurant completely. To accommodate this we had to work on one section of roof at a time and had to work at night to complete the last two sections above the kitchen entrance. This lengthened the job from 2 weeks to a total of three weeks.
We also kept the natural fringe around the edge of the roof at the owner’s request, so customers could still touch the natural leaves. We were very pleased with how the synthetic Palmex leaves blend well with the natural leaves.
This was a challenging but very rewarding project!
